blockquote>This is a Chinese name; the family name is Lei.</blockquote>Juliette Louie (Chinese: 黃瑋琦) (born 4 May 1994) is a Chinese-Canadian model turned actress who won the titles of 2017 Miss Hong Kong Champion and Miss Photogenic at the 2017 Miss Hong Kong Pageant.

Early Life
Louie was born in Edmonton, California. She moved to Hong Kong when she was 7 and attended the French International School of Hong Kong. In 2011, Louie relocated back to Canada to finish high school and attended the [[University of Toronto; graduating in 2016. After graduating, Louie turned to working as an actor and model.

Miss Hong Kong Controversy
After winning the title of 2017 Miss Hong Kong, Louie faced harsh criticism from the public. Netizens criticized the entire pageant process because by the end of the show, another contestant Regina Ho, had one more vote than Louie, who was in second place. Due to this, TVB asked their head judge,Dodo Cheng, who had two votes, to cast her votes. Dodo Cheng cast both of her votes to Louie, therefore making Louie the pageant champion, and making Regina Ho the first runner-up. Many netizens attributed Louie's win to her influential and wealthy father who is one of Hong Kong's top ten designers. Louie beat out favored contestants Regina Ho, Boanne Cheung, and Kelly Ng for the title.

Her second controversy surrounding the Miss Hong Kong Pageant was after netizens started criticizing her on social media, Louie did a live chat on her Instagram account and said that she "[Does] not care" what netizens have to say," that "She does not know how to read Chinese" which meant that netizens could continue to leave malicious comments and she would remain unaffected because she cannot read them, and called the netizens criticizing her "uneducated." She originally decided to speak in her native tongue, English, rather than Cantonese so that she would be able to better express her thoughts and feelings.

Her comments ignited a firestorm in Hong Kong with netizens and media outlets condemning her comments. Louie responded saying that her words were misconstrued and taken out of context by the media. Louie then participated in an interview where 2015 and 2016 Miss Hong Kong Pageant winners, Louisa Mak and Crystal Fung interviewed her, trying to rebuild Louie's image to the Hong Kong public by explaining the real meaning behind her comments. Louie explained that what she originally meant to convey was a message of self-empowerment and not "letting the haters get you down."

Wide discontent with Louie's win and her controversial Instagram live caused netizens to viciously attack Louie on social media. Most commo insults revolved around her teeth, her influential father buying the title for her, and her resembling a Filipino woman rather than a Chinese one. Netizens commented that her then boyfriend, who just graduated from dental school, should have helped fix her teeth before Louie competed in the Miss Hong Kong Pageant. Netizens also did not agree with Louie winning the Miss Photogenic title either. Netizens openly criticized the pageant's organizer, TVB by instead calling the pageant "Miss TVB," saying that the pageant winner only represents TVB and not Hong Kong.

In her interview, Louie stated that she would not resort to any sort of surgery or procedure to alter her teeth. Louie also refuted claims that her father was wealthy and stated that she had to work as a dance instructor to support herself financially in college. Louisa Mak and Crystal Fung supported Louie's claims that the pageant was fair and that her father played no influence in her being crowned the winner.

Nextplus, a news outlet based in Hong Kong openly called her one of the ugliest Miss Hong Kong champions.

After Miss Hong Kong
