Peck was a nephew of [[Almira Porter Barnes]]. Peck was active in the abolitionist movement. Peck served as a professor at [[Oberlin College]] and was arrested for being a leader of the abolitionist Oberlin-Wellington attempt to harbor freed slaves on the Oberlin campus.
