The church was built in limestone ashlars the Romanesque style in c. 1150.<ref></ref> The chancel was in c. 1400 replaced by a new and larger one. A limestone ashlar from the original chancel, which was reused in the south wall of the new one, features a runal inscription: "Tirad rist" ("Tirad wrote [this]").<ref></ref> The tower was added in c. 1500-25 and the porch is from c. 1600.<ref name="SKD"></ref>

The western cross vault feratues murals attributed to the so-called Høvelse Master.<ref name="SKD"/>
The alterpiece is from 1821 and was painted by J.L. Lund. The font was returned to the church in connection with a restauration in 1984. The pulpit is from c. 1825 and made of wood. It was in 1946 decorated with paintings of the Evangilists and Paul by Erik Petersen. The organ is a Ramus organ from 1861, exoabded by Starup in 1932.<ref name="SKD"/>
