'''Felipe de la Garza Cisneros''' (1798–1832) was a Mexican military . He was born the year of 1798 in Soto la Marina , state of Tamaulipas , same place where he lived childhood and his first years of youth.
His parents were Evaristo de la Garza and Tomasa Cisneros. He was part of the realistic army during the Mexican War of Independence . Under the orders of the realistic brigadier Joaquín de Arredondo, Felipe De la Garza participated in the site of Soto la Marina in 1817, during which he capitulated the small garrison that Francisco Xavier Mina had left under Major José Sardá and who accompanied Brother Servando Teresa of Wed.
When proclaiming the independence of Mexico , Felipe de la Garza was appointed governor of the province of Nuevo Santander , being confirmed his position on August 5 , 1822 . Supported by the provincial council, he signed a proclamation on September 16, 1822, protesting against the behavior of Agustín de Iturbide in power. In this way, De la Garza was the first open opposition against Iturbide, rising in arms against the regime but its movement failed. <sup>[ 1 ]</sup> On September 26 of that same year he fled to Monterrey leaving the Tamaulipas government. He was forgiven by Iturbide and returned to his hometown, where he was later appointed commander of the Eastern Provinces in 1823.
Iturbide being driven by Felipe de la Garza spends his last night at the hacienda of Palo Alto, jurisdiction of Santillana.
After the Revolution of the Plan of Casa Mata finally Iturbide abdicated and went into exile. On April 22, 1824, the Mexican Congress ruled that if Iturbide stepped on Mexican soil, he would be declared a traitor and enemy of the State. On July 14, 1824, the schooner ''Spring'' arrived, which Carlos Beneski and Agustín de Iturbide traveled on . De la Garza took Iturbide prisoner and transferred him to Soto la Marina , where he was tried. The transfer of Iturbide to Padilla was ordered under the custody of 60 men.Felipe de la Garza shot Iturbide at 6 pm on July 19 , 1824 in Padilla , Tamaulipas .
He was elected federal deputy by Tamaulipas for the period from 1827 to 1828. In 1830 he was elected by the local congress as senator. De la Garza fought in the battle of Tampico during the Isidro Barradasexpedition of 1829. He died on March 29 , 1832, avictim of tuberculosis .
