Govindrao Khare was [[Koli people|Koli]] commander at hilly post of [[Ratangad]] fort near [[Akola]] under [[Peshwa]] government. After fall of peshwa in 1828, he was offered the same post under [[British Raj|British]] government but he refused. the twelve relatives of khare who were serving in ratangad garrison thrown out of employment. After that, khare and his relatives and other peoples went to hilly area and joined by [[Ramji Bhangre]] of [[Konkan]] and launched uprising in akola hills and Ahmednagar. In 1829, there were hundreds of kolis gathering against British so captain macintosh started compaign against rebels and dispatched troops from [[Sahyadri]]. Captain received information about khare and bhangre from [[Kulkarni]] [[Brahmin|Brahmins]] .
